Latest Updates from Our Project:

Update #12: Hammering Away
10 months ago – Sat, May 31, 2025 at 07:02:22 AM

Hey Degenerates,

Sorry, it's been awhile since the last update.  Things have been... unusually chaotic... in the United States (to put it mildly), and my day job is affected more than most, so I've been busy on multiple fronts.

That said, we are making progress on the Wasteland Degenerates project.  I'm meeting with the DUMPSTER DRIVERS authors (Brian Colin, Zac Goins, and Phil Jensen) and we hashed out the parameters of the project, who takes what area, etc... it's going to be very cool!  Zac wants to add a bunch of replayability to it, and I'm all on board.

We've also been working out the correct parameters for working with the new printer, which will be a remarkable uptick in quality over the JCE, and worthy to sit on the shelf next to Mörk Borg, Cy_Borg, and Pirate Borg.

Actual Play Podcast

I was so stoked to randomly find that the mad troubadours of Player vs. Entertainment did an Actual Play of the Jumper Cable Edition.  Four episodes under the name Griftan Stink Must Die, and each one is a legally-distinct riot!  Check it out!

Now seems to be a good time to ramble off the WD social media list.

Shout Outs

There are a couple of promising projects currently funding!

Selene Oscure

Did you ever want Mörk Borg, but French, and about the moon crashing into us?  WellSelene Oscure might be the thing for you!  The cool thing about this is that the book is already funded, but this campaign is for an English translation.

How Awful Goodness Is

A new god arises!  This project is already funded,so get in on it now, or face a charge of heresy!

Afterword

I am committed to giving you all the best possible Wasteland Degenerates experience, so please excuse my untimely update, and know that I'm thinking of you all as we implement my original vision of the best post-apocalyptic 'Borg hack we can make!

Update #11: Surveys Sent! Final Stretch Goal Unlocked!
11 months ago – Sat, Apr 26, 2025 at 11:00:39 AM

Hey Degenerates,

Short update today. You may have noticed that the BackerKit surveys went out a couple days ago, and we've had a great response, though we still need a lot more of you to check your spam folders and make your selections!

Over 500 of you did confirm your information and some even made additional Add-On requests... which, by the way, brought the total collected on the campaign to be over $50,000!

This, of course, means...

FINAL STRETCH GOAL UNLOCKED!

Did you think I stopped counting when the campaign ended?  Nah; you made it, you deserve it.  As a result, DUMPSTER DRIVERS, the add-on zine, will now be 20 pages instead of 16, which means your favorite authors ZAC GOINS, BRIAN COLIN, and PHILIP JENSEN will all get a couple extra pages to play with each.  Will they just add more adventure? New classes?  Gear?  It's up to them, but I know I'm going to enjoy seeing what they come up with!

DIECAST BREAKDOWN INTERVIEW

I did this interview the day before the campaign ended and honestly I forgot to check on when it went live, but I had a great time talking to the Diecast Media guys about the intersection of toy cars and roleplaying games, and just... loving your hobby, no matter what it is.

Anyway, check it out.  I'll be in touch when there's more updates to share... drive angry... but drive safe out there...

Update #10: Pre-Order Store Open, Survey Smoke Test Sent
11 months ago – Mon, Apr 21, 2025 at 07:26:10 PM

Hey Degenerates,

Been awhile since I rapped at 'cha, but things have been moving for sure.  I've been keeping an eye on tariffs and I don't think they'll be hitting us very hard if everything goes to plan, but... well, this timeline is darker than a basilisk's black gullet, so who knows?

Smoke Tests Sent

I just sent out the smoke test for the survey, which means that a small percentage of you (think a critical hit on a d20) will receive the survey and be able to make your selections.  You have an important job to do, though: if something looks weird on the survey or something isn't working, you need to reach out to me so I can fix it before sending the surveys to the whole class.

Pre-Order Store Open

I closed out Kickstarter's Late Pledges and opened up theBackerKit Pre-Order Store.  Folks who missed the campaign can now just go pick up items a-la-carte!  Any item you buy here should include the digital version; if you just want all of the digital content, you can also just pick up the full Digital Collection.

SHOUT OUT

What is it with cool Viking projects these days?  First Ragnaborg, then Berserkr, now Yggdrasil Burns!  I feel like my wallet is going to get blood eagle'd...

Nothing else for you today.  Hang in there, because we're moving into the part where we go into high gear producing the best product possible for you all.  I'll keep in touch with updates, but they may slow down a bit for a few months.  Remember you can always reach out to me here or at [email protected]

UPDATE #9: CATACLYSMICALLY SUCCESSFUL FUNDING! THANK YOU!!!!
12 months ago – Tue, Apr 01, 2025 at 06:34:58 PM

HEY HEY HEY, DEGENERATES!

Thanks to 775 backers, we have successfully funded with $47,760 and ~478% of our original $10,000 goal!  Great job, you radiated pvnks!

Now I'm going to take some time to set up the survey, the pledge manager, and the pre-sale store.  We'll be handling all that through BackerKit, and you'll be able to grab any item you weren't able to get previously, such as the GM Screen that some folks missed because it got unlocked so late.

NEW ADVENTURES AND ACCESSORIES!

We unlocked a bunch of cool new things during the campaign, and it's going to be great!  First was DUMPSTER DRIVERS, a series of one-shot adventures in the world's biggest trash heap, penned and illustrated by ZAC GOINS, BRIAN COLIN, PHILIP JENSEN, and myself!  We even pulled off the feat of adding four pages to our total at no extra cost to backers, to make it 16 pages!  I am going go ask the guys what they want to do with the extra pages.  Maybe they want an extra class after all?  More adventure space?  We'll have to see.

We also unlocked cover debossing and a ribbon, which will make the book look super slick.  Excited to see how that ends up looking.

My biggest lift is going to be writing a whole new zine called RAD CITY MUSIC BRAWL with BRIAN COLIN's help with art and layout.  I've had this idea for awhile, and it just gets more fun the more I think about it.  One of the best parts of the post-apocalypse is checking in with aspects of our culture that change and stay the same through the End Times, and this time we're going all out with cake makeup, guitars, zombies, and ROCK & ROLL!

We also got ROAD COMBAT GRID 2: SPORE COLONY AND RED FOREST, which is going to be an A5-size battle mat for your Road War to take new life, using specialized rules for chase scenes in these most harrowing of locations.

Finally (and probably most importantly to some) we unlocked the GM SCREEN, which is going to have awesome Wasteland Degenerates art on one side and all the rules you need to run the game on the other.  I am going to have to get together with Matthew and hash out what exactly this thing is going to look like, but if you know us, you know we will never settle for anything less than AWESOME.

And it's not like any of the stuff unlocked in the Jumper Cable Edition campaign is going away.  You can still grab up great solo* adventures like ENTER THE DISMAL ARMORY and BLOOD ON THE BLEAK ROAD, the CHARACTER AND VEHICLE SHEETS, and the original ROAD COMBAT GRID.

* I have it on good authority that these can be run for groups with very little modification, and are easily integrated with the regular rules.

SHOUT OUT: CHAINSAW!

As a special treat for the end of the campaign, I thought I would shout out my artist, Matthew Myslinski's solo project, CHAINSAW, which is still in Late Pledges as he continues to work on the final draft of the book ("THIS IS NOT EVEN MY FINAL FORM!!!" - Matthew, probably).  Matthew has been a tireless advocate of Wasteland Degenerates from the moment he asked me to explain the project to him, and his amazing project definitely needs more attention.  I've read the drafts and can confirm that it is astonishingly innovative and a fully worthy game to sit on the shelf next to Mork Borg, Cy_Borg, and, yes, Wasteland Degenerates.  Go check it out and throw a few bucks his way to get in on the ground floor of this destined-for-great-things project!

PARTING SHOT

Well folks, this leg of the journey has ended, but, like all good road trips, we made a lot of memories along the way and forged new friendships that will see us through the challenges that lie ahead.  You'll be hearing a lot from me as time goes on and we hit certain benchmarks in the fulfillment of the books.  Just for transparency, looking at all the stuff we've added, I'm not sure the original estimate of "August 2025" is realistic.  Don't be surprised if this takes a couple/few months longer than that, but know that I'm going to be working to get all this out to you as fast as I can, because I want nothing more than to get people playing Wasteland Degenerates with their friends (heck, maybe even strangers, it's not like there's a Wasteland Degenerates police).

Keep your shotgun and your STOP sign axe handy, and I'll talk to you soon.

Update #8: MORE DUMPSTER DRIVERS! Second Star to the Left, and on to 7 PM!
about 1 year ago – Tue, Apr 01, 2025 at 10:53:46 AM

Hey Degenerates,

$45,000 with 6.5 hours to go?  That's nuts.  I'm in awe of your support for this project!  You've unlocked four more pages of adventure from our expert DUMPSTER DRIVERS contributors, and we're...

OFF TO THE RACES

...maybe to the final stretch goal of $50,000 for four MORE dumpster drivin' pages, this time with a new class and gear!

PLEDGE MANAGER STUFF

Some folks have asked me, and I had to inquire with some experts, but once the campaign completes, we'll be doing all of the pledge manager type things with BackerKit, and you'll be able to make changes there, even apparently changing your pledge level.

I will need to take a little time to set all this stuff up, so you can expect more information after the campaign.

SHOUT OUT

I've watched BUNNY BORG with some amusement since it opened, and it's got one day left!

Just sayin'.  That's some pretty pvnk stuff right there.

SIGNING OFF

That's all I've got for you for now... see you on YouTube at 6 PM Central for the FINAL COUNTDOWN (dun!)
